ABOUT IRON POT BAY VINEYARD

Established 1988 in the small township of Rowella, Tamar Valley TAS, Iron Pot Bay Vineyard is located on latitude 41'10'35"S allowing for the production of full bodied cool-climate wines.

The nearby Tamar River has an influence on the local-climate and our mild growing season. With loam over clay soil, we average 50 tonne of grapes annually, and are hands on; with hand picking, manual pruning, and vine cultivating.

Literally jumping head first into the life of a vigneron, Julieanne has found a passion she didn't know existed, and loving it...

The Mani's vision is to have a peaceful place to visit and taste their excellent wines, savor fresh local produce, take in the beauty of Rowella, the Tamar Valley and a little of its history.

OUR VINEYARD

We pack a lot into our small vineyard... the more than 23,000 (23,776 to be exact) vines are grown on a well kept "Modified Lyre Trellis", and with 5Ha under vine, including the varieties Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with some varieties not common in small Tasmanian vineyards.

With loam over clay soil and irrigating from our 20 mega litre dam (relying on rainwater to drip irrigate our vines), we average 50 tonne of grapes annually.

Our vineyard is very hands-on with seasonal hand-picking harvests and old-school pruning.

PRODUCTION

The magic begins with our esteemed and learned wine maker Jeremy Dineen, Chief Winemaker at Josef Chromy Wines.

Jeremy has made wine for Iron Pot Bay Vineyard since 2008 and now with the passion and input from the Mani Family great wines (backed by several wine awards & gold medals) are being created.

Iron Pot Bay Vineyard has a passion for sustainability and is shown through the use of a lighter weighted wine bottles with an environmentally-friendly Bagasse Sugar Cane & Hemp label. The vineyard has its own water source and the use of recycled material can be seen throughout the cellar door and wine trellises.
